In January 1953, ONE Inc. began publishing a monthly magazine called ONE, the first U.S. pro-gay publication, which it sold openly on the streets of Los Angeles for 25 cents.
This bold movement opened the doors for many other publications aimed at the gay community. From this point forward, homosexuals were able to procure publications that catered to their
interests. Not only did these publications provide informational material, they also provided photogenic content that appealed to the gay male. No longer was the gay male restricted to saunas and baths, they could now purchase magazines that allowed them to enjoy the gay lifestyle in the privacy of their own home. VGTB attempts to rekindle and bring back the homo-erotica that was enjoyed by the gay male in the 50's to the 80's.
